Who are we?
I started Push Back Barbell to give my powerlifting team an identity. Check out the leaderboards and records below, they lift some heavy sh*t.
I got the "Push Back" tattoo Summer 2020 after I fractured my pelvis, tearing 4 of my adductors in 9 places. Two weeks later I was diagnosed with cancer and had emergency surgery. I set my next state record in February 2022.
I am not the team identity. Our team identity is strength. Our team identity is sheer pettiness. Our team identity is choosing not to let life push us around. We push back.
Why the buffalo?
The Cape Buffalo kills 200 people per year in Africa. After being wounded by hunters, the Cape Buffalo does not flee. With its dying breath, the Cape Buffalo charges its attacker.
The Cape Buffalo does not accept its circumstances, it pushes back.
